Important information before you apply. A Norwegian residence permit or citizenship does not automatically entitle you to apply as a local applicant. Please read the application categories and deadlines carefully before you apply. Applying in the wrong category will result in rejection. Everyone has to apply through Søknadsweb. Tuition fees are planned to be introduced from the academic year 2023/2024. More information will be available in January 2023.
Tuition fees for the academic year 2023/2024
From the academic year 2023/2024, non-EU/EEA citizens are required to pay tuition fees at the University of Stavanger, on the condition that the required amendment to the the Norwegian Universities Act will be adopted by the Storting (the Norwegian parliament). Below you can find the tuition fees for the different study programmes.
You will not have to pay tuition fees if:
- You are an exchange student
- You started your study programme in Norway before 2023
- You have a citizenship from EU/EEA or Switzerland
- If you have a permanent residence permit i Norway or other special connection to Norway according to the list of exceptions.
Exemptions from paying tuition feess

If you fulfill the requirements for one of the following criteria (subject to change), you may be exempt from paying tuition fees. Please provide the relevant document after you receive admission. The application form will be available in April.
