People in Need started working in former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s to deliver humanitarian aid and has remained in the region since to support the region’s social and economic reconstruction and development. About the role: In August 2021, PIN launched a new project to improve the use of public space and public discourse in the City of Mostar. PIN will lead a consortium of international and local organizations that includes Everyday Peace Indicators, LDA Mostar, OKC Abrasevic, and Nesto Vise to implement the 36-month long project.
PIN is looking for an experienced manager to supervise the implementation of the activities in the frame of this project, in particular to manage the PIN project team, oversee the performance of local partner organizations, communicate with local stakeholders and through regular monitoring, identify any emerging risks and mitigation measures.
The position will be supervised by the Project Director based in Mostar.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the Project Director with the development and execution of actions within the scope of the project
- Act as a key local contact point for Mostar partners
- Responsible for streamlining all communication with local authorities and key stakeholders from all communities
- Ensure project activities are implemented according to international best practices and follow PIN good governance methodologies
- Responsible for coherence of core delivery team actions
- Oversee the performance of local partner organizations, ensure quality reporting both narrative and financial at regular instances
- In coordination with EPI Coordinator and MREL Coordinator, directly responsible for effective, accessible community feedback mechanisms
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor field activities, provide advisory support to the PIN and local partners teams
- Provide timely and high quality inputs for the reports submitted by the Project Director to the donor and PIN headquarters
- Track project expenditure through monthly programme review meetings using financial expenditure reports prepared by the finance department
- Ensure compliance to donor policies, procedures and procurement
- Represent PIN in fora and events related to the project scope and follows trends in the sector
- Identify opportunities of additional funding or partnerships to maximize the impact and scope of the project in Mostar
- Ensure that the project identifies and retains learning, and that all information is properly documented
- Line manage Grants Coordinator and Project Assistant and ensure their capacity building
- In the absence of Project Director, serve as his substitute according to previously agreed responsibilities
Suitable candidates for this position should possess:
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience in relevant field
- University degree in Project Management, Business Administration, International Relations, Political/Security/Development Studies, or other relevant discipline
- Experience of working within a humanitarian and/or development organization (NGO); experience of working with international NGO is highly desired
- Excellent communication skills, including fluent spoken and written Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English
- Capability to provide planning, leadership, direction to the team
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and deliver assignments on time

Under the overall oversight of the Project Director and direct supervision by the Project Manager, the Project Assistant will support the Project Director, the Project Manager and other members of the project team in the day-to-day implementation in the frame of this project. He/she will be responsible for assisting with all project-related activities and providing administrative, organizational, logistical, and translation support.
The position will be supervised by the Project Manager based in Mostar.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Director and Project Manager in the overall implementation of the project
- Assist with organizing meetings and events
- Maintain and archive accurate and timely records (activity reports, receipts/invoices, means of verification, etc.) of all activities; collect records from implementing partner organizations
- Provide translation and interpretation support to the Project Director and other team members when needed
- Assist the Project Manager and other members of the project team in monitoring grant schemes and other project activities
- Assist with collecting and analyzing data
- Assist with updating, collecting, and communicating information on project-relevant topics; assist with visibility aspects of the project
- Perform other duties as required
Suitable candidates for this position should possess:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience at a similar level of responsibilities
- University degree in social sciences or another related field desirable
- Experience working for a development and/or humanitarian organization (NGO) will be a strong advantage
- Excellent communication skills, including fluent spoken and written English and Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian
- Strong coordination, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to proactively address potential issues
- Ability to form and maintain relationships through team work and needed networking
- Knowledge in MS Office software packages (MS Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
